Accredited counter balance forklift training for Sheffield businesses
Sheffield is the industrial powerhouse of South Yorkshire — a city built on steel and now home to world-leading advanced manufacturing at the AMRC, alongside heavy engineering, tool-making and a fast-growing logistics sector. With distribution and warehousing concentrated around Meadowhall, Tinsley and the M1 at Junctions 33 and 34, and busy trade counters and yards throughout Attercliffe, Brightside and Sheffield Business Park, demand for safe, certified counterbalance forklift operators across the city has never been higher.
As a Yorkshire-based training provider, MHE Train & Test is genuinely local to Sheffield — not a national firm covering you from a distance. Our AITT-accredited instructors come to your site, train on your counterbalance trucks, in your real working environment, fully in line with HSE L117 and PUWER.
Whether you’re training a complete beginner, formalising an experienced operator’s skills, converting a ticket from another truck type, or keeping refreshers in date, we deliver it on a day that suits your production schedule — with transparent daily-rate pricing and no hidden charges.

What is a counterbalance forklift — and who needs training?
The counterbalance is the most common forklift in UK warehouses and yards. Its forks sit at the front, balanced by a heavy counterweight at the rear, so there are no outriggers and the truck can drive straight up to a load or racking — making it the everyday workhorse of Sheffield’s steel plants, manufacturing units and distribution centres.
Under the Health and Safety at Work Act, PUWER and HSE’s L117 Approved Code of Practice, anyone operating a lift truck on a Sheffield site must be adequately trained — and the employer must be able to prove it on demand. Getting counterbalance training right protects your operators, your stock and your production line from accidents, downtime and HSE enforcement.
Is your team legally covered?
If an operator can’t show valid, in-date certification, your business may not be compliant. We’ll help you close that gap quickly with on-site training in Sheffield.
